New coach, same tradition.

First-year coach Chad Green piloted the Central men’s golf team to a record 29th Iowa Conference championship and its 30th NCAA Division III tournament berth.

Senior Jason Harvey took league medalist and MVP honors, carding a 78-71-79-72—300 to gain all-league recognition a second time. Sophomore transfer Justin Livingston finished just two shots back to take second place. Junior Brent Messmore was 11th, with sophomore Drew Osier tied for 18th and senior Alex Huyser tied for 31st.

Green was named the league’s coach of the year.

At the national tournament in Greensboro, N.C., Central rallied but missed the 36-hole cut, finishing 23rd in a 40-team field. Only the top 15 teams advanced to the final 36 holes. Messmore was the Dutch leader at 78-72—151.

Four of the team’s top six return next year.
